Amazon.com Review
If your work requires you to drill or drive in a lot of tight or awkward places (under sinks, overhead, inside cabinets, between pipes, etc.), this Black & Decker five-position drill/driver may be the perfect tool for you. The drill features a compact design and swiveling head that rotates 90 degrees front and back of center, with 45-degree stops along the way. A straightaway, inline stop even provides added reach for tight spaces in which a standard power drill might not fit. Lightweight and nimble, this Black & Decker drill is extremely maneuverable, as well. A comfort-grip handle and three-finger trigger provide excellent control, while a 24-position clutch and variable speeds of 0 to 700 rpm allow the drill to power through wood, steel, or masonry without damaging bits or stripping screws along the way. --Carl Thress

Amazon.com Product Description
Ideal for drilling holes and driving screws in wood, metal, and plastic, this 1/4-inch hex cordless drill/driver from Black & Decker features an innovative five-position swiveling head that gets into even the hardest to reach areas. Offering a three-finger trigger for a secure hold as you work, the XD1200K gives you quick and easy access to tight corners, under sinks, around pipes, and in other close quarters. Its first position is that of a standard drill; the second puts you at a 45 degree angle; third is straight-up or in-line; fourth is a backwards 45-degree angle; fifth is a right angle position. Beyond its versatility, the XD1200K boasts a fast and easy seven-bit changing system, a pull and release collar for effortless accessory changes, and a 24-position clutch for optimum control when driving. A 1/4-inch keyless chuck and spring-loaded NiCad batteries that slide in and out make for a user-friendly design, so you can get more done in less time. This handy drill comes with six drill bits, four screwdriving bits, five nut drivers, keyless chuck, one 12-volt battery, charger, and storage case.

3 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected   April 25, 2010
Benjamin L. Hamilton (Fargo, ND)
First the bad, and the false advertising:

- That cool hard plastic case pictured above? You don't get that. Instead you'll get a thin, flimsy bag with no pockets where everything (including the drill bits and chucks) just slam around together.
- When my package arrived 2 of my drill bits were already broken before I even opened the box. I suppose this should be expected because the bits are not secured in anyway so they've just be banging around during shipping.
- It doesn't come with a quick charge, charger. So if you're battery runs dry (and it should, because the manual recommends running it out completely before ever charging it) it takes 3-6 hours to charge.

Good stuff:

- The drill seemed to work and the bits are very quick to change.

Bottom line: They should get rid of the images of the hard case above and replace them with pictures of this craptastic bag sitting in front of me.

5 out of 5 stars Incredibly useful for every kind of project   March 26, 2010

I got this as a Christmas gift from my older brother a year ago. At the time, I remember thinking that I'd maybe use it here and there a couple of times a year. Instead, this thing has proven to be a lifesaver. I've used it on countless home repair and hobby jobs for unscrewing/screwing difficult bolts and screws, drilling pilot holes to drilling door knob holes, sanding, cutting, buffing, routing...you name it. Indoor, outdoor, automotive...with the right bits/attachments, this thing can do just about anything.

3 out of 5 stars Good while it works   March 8, 2010

I have had this drill for a few years. I use it occasionally and it used to work very well. When I needed to drill it drilled. When I needed to drive it drove. And undrove when I made a mistake. A great convenience in putting in screws. I liked it a lot.

It now only works in reverse. There is a switch inside the handle that is supposed to change the direction. It doesn't work any more. I have been in touch with Black and Decker and they say it is not a user serviceable item, and it would cost more to repair than to buy new.

That is bad design. I now have to trash an otherwise perfectly good tool because of a small, minor component.

4 out of 5 stars Great tool for small jobs   February 6, 2010
Betmatrho
This cordless tool is great for small jobs, and seems to have plenty of power and spunk. However, if you were going to be doing a lot of work on a big project - this drill isn't the one for big jobs. It is light-weight and plastic - which is lighter to work with and the ability to reach hard to get to places is what it is mainly designed for - for that it is great.
