Inverters: Quiet, Portable Power

Also, this four-stroke unit requires only gasoline and oil. It will run for five hours when the 1.5-gallon tank is full, making it a great option for all your recreational needs. And at just 62 pounds and with built-in handles, it's easy to move and store.

Efficient and Easy to Use
The HW2000i is exceptionally simple to use and comes equipped with Smart Start instructions to assist with easy starts. To help ensure trouble-free operation, an indicator light will illuminate, and the unit will completely shut down in low-oil conditions. An overload protection indicator light helps preserve the life of the HW2000i, and an economy mode allows you to save fuel and further reduce running sound.

The HW2000i is backed by a two-year warranty.

5 out of 5 stars No issues! A+   July 25, 2010
Andrew Merkle
I have owned the HW2000i for about a year now. I bought it to run my furnace in case of a power outage. Of course once you buy a generator, the power never goes out! I run the unit with a load about every 2 months. If the fuel tank is full you will have NO starting issues. If you put in a slug of gas just to run for a few minutes, you WILL have starting issues. So far no issues running anything (other than big motors). The only issue I had was figuring out what oil to use. It calls for 15w-40. Most 15w-40 oils are for diesel motors. I called Honeywell, and was told any 15w-40 formulated for API rating SF or better can be used as long as it doesn't say diesel only. Shell Rotella T, is one of the best oils, and is rated for gasoline and diesel motors. This thing is quiet too! Im impressed. I see Generac is now making inverter generators, and they just don't see to measure up to the Honeywell. I believe 90% of issues with the Honeywell is due to people not reading the owners manual. Enjoy.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy   July 21, 2010

I bought a HW2000i and for over a year now I have been trying it get it fixed. I bought it from ShopHoneywellGenerators and it's worked for 4 hours and since then I have been trying to get it fixed.Honeywell will not honor their goods. They have given me phone #'s and you call that one and they send you back to one you just called.I've had to drive an hour 1/2 away to take to where they said it could be fixed but they did'nt fix it,so sent me to another place an hour away and it's been in there for 3 months. It has been a nightmare and nothing but a run around.I would never ever buy anything from them again. Now it's sitting at a repair shop and they won't do anything for me. DO NOT BUY. NO GOOD

5 out of 5 stars For the Honda lovers   July 17, 2010

Just bought an HW2000i, even after reading all of the (bad) reviews. I think there are a lot of Honda sales people that have time to spare, so they write all of the negative reviews on this product (think big commissions). I took it out of the box, filled it with oil, filled it with gasoline, turned off the switches, turned on the fuel, set the choke to on, pulled the cord and it started on the first pull. Runs smooth and quite, compares to my older Honda 900 generator. Tried a couple of power hungry tools and it ran them well. Next I will try my pop-ups rooftop a/c, I think it should power it very well (my 900 Honda tries but just fails).

Rarely do I post a review about products but I feel compelled to when it comes to this little generator, especially after I have seen some of the bad reviews.
I actually bought mine from the Home Depot for $299.00; a crazy sale for this item. I was skeptical as anyone would be but needed a little generator for hunting and to back up our big generator in case of maybe.
Assembly was easy, followed the instructions to the letter and my generator started first pull. Since then I have noticed it's not quite as easy to start and I couldn't figure out why. After trying it many times during my monthly checks I finally figured it out. When I was done running the generator (1/2 hour once a month)I would always shut it down in the efficiency mode. It doesn't start well in efficiency mode. If you have experienced a tough cold start, start it in regular mode and not efficiency.
What have I run with it... a fridge, furnace, 1/2 drill, battery chargers, halogen work lights, 1500 watt ceramic heater, 12 volt power supplies, the list goes on. Everything that I have asked this generator to run within it's rating it has handled no problems at all. I have run it for about 6 hours straight one time and it used about a thimble full of gas. Again, I have used this generator a lot, never a problem. I find it very quiet, espeically in efficiency.
I have changed out the break in oil as recommended and the only problem there was the little plastic drain tube that came with it. I replaced that with a hose and barbed fitting of the same NPT. I only use fuel that is treated with StaBil in my generators and I use Royal Purple Oil, but that's just my preference.
I too was looking at a Honda when I went shopping, I'm glad I saved the money and came home with this one.

3 out of 5 stars Honeywell HW2000i 2,000 Watt 125cc 4-Stroke Inverter Generator   July 11, 2010

The Honeywell 2000 watt inverter generator arrived in 2 days, props to Amazon on that.

Pros:
-Started on second pull, right out of the box.
-Powers two - 1000 Watt floodlights which is max output.
-Nice looking, fairly small package.
-Not too loud for my use.
-Price is relatively low.

Cons:
-Gas ran out the bottom when first filled, due to a poor seal at the nozzle and a little carelessness on my part.
-Hard to put oil in, you have to use a cheap little plastic squirt bottle that is supplied.
-This inverter is a little heavier than some competitors models.

Problem:
This thing burned a lot of oil. It shut down on the low oil sensor the first time I used it, after about six hours of full load. It had used over half the .48 quarts of oil it requires. The exhaust was smoky, but I didn't realize why until it shut down, low on oil. Now I see why the automatic shut down is required. It remains to be seen if it will burn as much oil when it is at a partial load. Hope not, but I will have spare oil on hand next time!
