Real Nice Gen June 28, 2010 coy skipper Great little Generator would say no one will be upset with it. It's real Quality in a small package
Difficult to start until....... June 24, 2010 H (VA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received this generator and followed all the instructions prior to start-up. I pulled and pulled and pulled until my arm hurt; maybe 40 or 50 times. It would not start. I pulled out the spark plug and found that it was not firing. Finally, I spoke with a local small engine mechanic. He told me it was surely the oil level. I filled it to the first threads in the oil portal like the directions described, I told him. He said tip the machine away from you and add more. I did this till it was oveflowing a little. It started on the first pull. Apparently, the directions for this are in error. You must fill the oil till it is overflowing in order for the device to run. Otherwise, so far, its working fine.
:( WOW. Amazon sent me a USED & NON-OPERANT generator!! April 24, 2010 Yin Macatabas (phoenix, az usa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, this item is "not eligible for return," so i'm stuck with it!
It wreaks of gasoline! My brother said that maybe they just wanted to test it before shipping. Hard to believe when there are scuff marks all over the bottom, dirty smudges on the papers, and light stains and scratches on the body that indicate some normal wear and tear of the machine.
This has definitely put a bad taste in my mouth with Amazon. Especially when some of these reviews state that it only works well for so many hours and then goes kaput on you. I really trusted Amazon was better than this, but maybe I was wrong. They could have at least warned that the item would be slightly used and then given you a discount for it being used.
Just a heads up to everyone- Costco sells the same machine at a whole $3 more... considering their returns policy, it's a FAR better deal. So if you wand this item find someone with a Costco Membership and get it from them. They actually care about keeping their customers happy.
I'm adding this in... Not only was the machine used... but it also does not work. We tried it for the first time and could not get it working. We have read the manual 1000 times over to see if there was something we're doing wrong, but still just can't get it to go. Tsk tsk, Amazon.
Nice generator, no DC output. April 5, 2010 Jonathan R. Burnette (Bethesda, MD) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Overall this is a nice little generator but the main purpose of this review is to let people know that this generator DOES NOT HAVE A DC OUTPUT. In reality it does have a DC output but you're not supposed to use it. The DC output is unregulated which did not pass certain licensing so rather than remove the DC outlet Honeywell decided not to ship or sell a plug that will fit the DC outlet. I think this is a very unprofessional solution and they should do a better job of telling customers what happened. I wasted several hours and trips to multiple hardware stores trying to find a plug for this thing.
I've used the generator for about 5 hours now and the thing I notice most is that this is the easiest starting generator that I have ever used. It starts on the first pull every time and has been very reliable. It is a gasoline engine so it is fairly loud but compared to my 5500 Watt portable generator this thing is incredibly quiet.
not happy April 5, 2010 Mastercard 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yes shipping was fast but it does not run. Now I have to travel, take time out, find a repair place to correct the problem. Why would they ship defected products and put the burden on the consumer to fix their mistakes. Should have stayed loyal to Honda.
