3 out of 5 stars Good Generator / Bad Generator   July 27, 2010
K & S Party Rentals, LLC
I own a party rental company so I bought two of these generators. The Free shipping to Hawaii saved myself $100.

Generator 1: Hooked up to a 900 watt air blower unit which is used for an inflatable bouncer. The generator nearly dies out while the blower unit motors starts up. Once the motor gets going the generator smoothes out. I like the compact size, light weight and using straight gasoline with no mixing involved. It lasted about 6 hours running at 900 watts on a full tank of gas (1.3 gallons).

Generator 2: I used this generator to power a small PA setup and some lighting (10 18 watt CFL bulbs). The little generator pleased me once again. About 4 hours later I went to check the fuel level and noticed oil leaking from underneath. I tried to contact the manufacturer to have the unit repaired but was unsuccessful. Based off other customer experiences, I will fix this one myself.

I was very pleased with these generators but the poor customer service will prevent me from buying these GENERATORS or ALL POWER brand ever again.

This a great "LITTLE" generator. Bought it through AMAZON for $200.00 with free shipping. Can not beat that price.
What sold me on this generator is not only the price, but having a generator that was easy to carry and move around. Yes, it doesn't power alot of things, but for your Basic needs, it does the job.
At first I had problems with it running smooth. I contacted ALL POWER AMERICA and they sent me out a new Carb. Customer service was GREAT ! Upon replacing the Carb, it still ranned rough. I checked the spark plug, and the gap was wrong. After regapping, the motor ranned smooth.
This generator is great for the little projects and your basic needs in case of a power outage. I read that thier has been some problems with ALL POWER AMERICA customer service, but I did not have any problems with them. I only gave the Generator four stars because of the problems I had at first. I DO recommend this generator for use for your basic needs.

3 out of 5 stars Service Sux   July 23, 2010

Im sure this unit is good for what it is designed for but Unfortunately ive been waiting 2 months now for them to send me a new airfilter that was cracked and broken when it arrived... By the look of it this is a very common problem and for sum reason they dont have the brains to fix the packaging..... EXTREAMLY dissapointed

Houston, Texas. I received this generator in good condition and on time. Filled with gas and oil. Took a few pulls and started. Ran a bit rough (surging) but smoothed out a bit after warming. I adjusted carb and it ran just fine. I have only run it a couple of times totaling less than 1/2 hour of time just to check it and to accomodate my building a little enclosure for it. I believe its a very good value for the money assuming it doesn't have any initial problems. This one began leaking gas which I fixed. It was just the tank line below the shut-off valve... probably came loose from vibration. I noticed a more serious problem after it sat a few days. The engine appears to be leaking oil from the crankcase seal, as best I can tell. I called the 800 service number and they asked me to email or fax my proof of purchase and model info which I did. The customer rep said she would phone me back with the name of the nearest service center location but only after receiving my info. I guess its a secret. I'm still waiting for her call since I emailed everything within 10 minutes of our of conversation. Apparently it can't be returned or exchanged so I suspect I will try to seal the crankcase myself if All Power never contacts me. Its one of the potential problems when you buy from Amazon direct. When and/or if I hear from All Power customer service, I'll try to update this review.

UPDATE July 16, 2010: The customer service dept never called me so I called back a week later and I won't go through all the details of two phone contacts and emails too, but essentially they wanted me to either drill a hole/ fill the unit with sand and send a picture of it or drop it at a service center for verification and then they would send a new one. I decided the closest service center was too far away to justify hauling so they could trash it(this is Houston - 4th largest city in US - only 2 service places.) and I didn't think it was right to dispose of it due to an oil leak. At least give it to the Red Cross or Boy Scouts but don't throw it away just to prove a point. I suggested they could deduct a salvage value and just send me a refund of the difference. In the end, I told them to forget it and I would fix it myself or donate it but I wasn't happy with their solutions. Amazon needs to improve the warranty system for gas powered products, especially those with a low value. That's my take anyway.
