I have already used it on repairs. It to the place of my detail sander and roto zip. It saved me from having to get out many different tools.

Ihave used both the Fein Multimaster and the Rockwell Sonicrafter (which I now own). They are both excellent tools. The only thing different about them is the tool-less blade changing on the Fein; the Sonicrafter requires an allen wrench, which stores on the cord. This makes the Fein a bit more convenient, but also twice the cost of the Sonicrafter. All other things being equal, I bought the Sonicrafter and I absolutely love it and I'm glad to have saved over $200. The Sonicrafter blades are much cheaper than the Fein's,too. I don't know how I EVER lived without this tool - it's that good.

I was preparing to remodel our condo kitchen which is a small galley type kitchen. I had two estimates between 2 & 3 thousand for labor. I had already purchased my floor cabinets, counter tops, sink & faucets, new range & microwave. I have all the basic hand and power tools, so I set out to DIY! I'm glad I did! However I could see I needed one more power tool. I need something like the Fine multitask tool but it cost way to much. I need to trim base boards without removing. Cut out sheet-rock to re-work the plumbing. Also remove some tile, thin-set & grout.
After reading many reviews for my options I decided on the Rockwell SoniCrafter. I could have purchased a Dremel at local home improvement store or a Sears Craftmans cordless version but it had very bad reviews & the Dremel just wasn't heavy duty enough. Bosch has a 12v version also but I just didn't need another battery to keep charged. I had a lot of thin-set & grout to remove.
I purchased the 37pc variable speed kit which came with a heavy duty canvas storage bag. I also ordered an adapter which allows you to use the Dremel blades with the SoniCrafter. This was a well spent 12 bucks! I highly recommend this adapter. When you wear out or break a blade you can go anywhere Dremel is sold and find blades and not have to wait to order them from Rockwell.
I received my SoniCrafter in only four days with free super saver shipping, thank you Amazon! I was very surprised how heavy duty this tool is. This is a serious power tool! It also comes with a roomy plastic case to store all your accessories. The hex key to install & remove the blades stores conveniently with a holder on the power cord.
Some of the reviews stated the blades were coming lose during use. If the blades are properly installed there is know way they will loosen during use. Unlike what you might think, the tool runs very smooth & does not vibrate in your hand and is easy to control even at the highest speed. I had my wife using it with the carbide blade to remove grout between tiles & she had no problem at all controlling it.
Bottom line: If you are handy around your home this is a must have power-tool. I paid under $140 for mine & It paid for itself the first time I turned it on! This one tool saved me much time & effort with my kitchen remodel. A small kitchen renovation is very doable yourself with very basic tools. If I can do it anyone can! The only thing I did not do was the plumbing! Our next project will be installing the back splash which will save me another $750! With all my savings on labor alone I have purchased new oak stair treads for my stairs and wood flooring for the upstairs bedrooms!
